Initially, she worked small fashion shows for minimal pay, but her big break came at 17 when she was featured in\u00a0<em>Glamour<\/em>\u00a0magazine, which led to worldwide fame.<\/p>\n<p>From that point, her career flourished with multiple appearances in\u00a0<em>Sports Illustrated<\/em>\u00a0swimsuit editions,\u00a0<em>Time<\/em>, and even earning a spot in\u00a0<em>Men\u2019s Health<\/em>\u00a0magazine\u2019s list of the 100 Hottest Women of All Time in 2012.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-129417\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2023\/06\/05130214\/GettyImages-515407180.jpg\" alt=\"Portrait of Cheryl Tiegs\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Cheryl Tiegs pictured in 1978. Credit: Getty.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Looking back on her career, Tiegs has spoken about how different the modeling industry was back then compared to today, explaining that models in her era didn\u2019t have the same visibility as they do now with the rise of social media and entertainment shows like\u00a0<em>Entertainment Tonight<\/em>. \u201cIt was more in the moment, and I liked that,\u201d she told Artful Living.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1980s, Tiegs explored acting, appearing in shows like\u00a0<em>Moonlighting<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Just Shoot Me<\/em>, as well as movies like\u00a0<em>The Brown Bunny<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Sharknado 4<\/em>\u00a0in the 00s and 10s.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this foray into acting, she ultimately chose to focus on other aspects of her life, including her personal relationships and motherhood. She was married multiple times and had three children, including twin sons born via surrogate in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Tiegs has also been committed to environmental advocacy. Her efforts have included raising awareness about global warming and supporting conservation initiatives. Credit: Shutterstock.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t like that we\u2019re talking about full-figured women because it\u2019s glamorizing them because your waist should be smaller than 35 [inches]. That\u2019s what\u00a0Dr. Oz\u00a0said, and I\u2019m sticking to it,\u201d Tiegs explained on\u00a0E! News. \u201cNo, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s healthy. Her face is beautiful. Beautiful. But I don\u2019t think it\u2019s healthy in the long run.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then, in 2017, Tiegs accused the media of sensationalizing her comments, \u201cbecause really all I was doing was trying to look out for the health of someone who\u2019s too thin or going on the other side of the scale,\u201d\u00a0Tiegs said in 2017. \u201cIt\u2019s just about finding your own healthy path. That\u2019s all. I don\u2019t know her; I don\u2019t know if she\u2019s healthy or not. That\u2019s up to her.<\/p>\n<p>At 77, Tiegs maintains her health through yoga, proper nutrition, and surrounding herself with positive influences.
