Fans of Melissa McCarthy have rushed to the actress\u2019s defence after she was subject to speculation regarding her weight.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Bridesmaids\u00a0<\/em>star rocked up to the\u00a0Fashion<\/a>\u00a0Trust\u00a0US<\/a>\u00a0Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday night (9 Apr), where she flaunted a fitted gown that showed off her newly-trimmed down physique.<\/p>\n

Her shimmering dress bore tones of brown, beige and green which swirled together in a unique pattern, and McCarthy paired the number with a taupe glitter bag, statement white hoop earrings and a super-chic up-do.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for the\u00a0film<\/a>\u00a0star, however, it didn\u2019t take long for internet trolls to compare her dainty red carpet appearance with looks she\u2019d served in the years prior, many of whom accused the 55-year-old of using weight loss drugs.<\/p>\n

\u201cActress Melissa McCarthy looks like she\u2019s been on\u00a0Ozempic<\/a>,\u201d one X user wrote, sharing footage of the\u00a0Mike and Molly\u00a0<\/em>star filmed this week.<\/p>\n

Immediately, the tweet sparked mass backlash fromMcCarthy fans, who jumped to her defence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe dissection of women\u2019s bodies, positive or negative, needs to seriously stop,\u201d one pleaded. \u201cMelissa McCarthy\u2019s weight has always fluctuated, and she\u2019s always been a baddie no matter what size. I just care that she\u2019s happy and healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another added: \u201cLet me add a community note with context for this bullshit ass post. She does not use Ozempic.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third pointed out that, even if McCarthy is receiving a helping hand to achieve her healthier physique, it\u2019s no one else\u2019s business. \u201cYou know what, good for her. She looks healthy,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n

A fourth added: \u201cPeople saying that Melissa McCarthy. So what if she is!? This is the correct way to get on Ozempic. You lose weight, and still look decent instead of looking like a walking bag of bones and thin skin.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCarthy was previously forced to address talk of her transformation when singer Barbra Streisand publicly questioned her about her figure.<\/p>\n

After the double Golden Globe-winner shared a photo of herself walking arm-in-arm with film director pal Adam Shankman at CTG\u2019s The Gala 2024, Streisand commented: \u201cGive him my regards did you take Ozempic?\u201d<\/p>\n

After being called out for her comment, the\u00a0Star Is Born\u00a0<\/em>favourite released a statement, insisting she was trying to pay McCarthy \u2018a compliment\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cOMG \u2013 I went on Instagram to see the photos we\u2019d posted of the beautiful flowers I\u2019d received for my birthday. Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy, who I sang with on my encore album,\u201d Streisand wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress responded by sharing an Instagram clip captioned \u2018@barbrastreisand fan club members only!!!\u2019 from the premiere of her movie\u00a0Unfrosted,\u00a0<\/em>in which she\u2019s seen reading a magazine centred around Streisand.<\/p>\n

The camera then panned out, with Melissa exclaiming: \u201cThe takeaway. Barbra Streisand knows I exist!\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, revealing the star \u2018reached out to me and she said I look good\u2019. \u201cI win the day,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Appearing on CBS News in the months that followed, McCarthy revealed of her weight loss: \u201cI finally said to myself, \u2018\u2019Oh, for God\u2019s sake, stop worrying about it\u2019, and it may be the best thing I\u2019ve ever done.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI truly stopped worrying about my weight. I stopped over-analysing, over-thinking, over-doing anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
