A young doctor moved out to a small community to replace a doctor who was retiring.<\/p>\n
The older doctor suggested that the young one accompany him on his rounds, so the community could become used to a new doctor.<\/p>\n
At the first house, a woman complains, \u201cI\u2019ve been a little sick to my stomach.\u201d<\/p>\n
The older doctor says, \u201cWell, you\u2019ve probably been overdoing the fresh fruit. Cut back on the amount you\u2019ve been eating and see if that does the trick?\u201d<\/p>\n
As they left, the younger man said, \u201cYou didn\u2019t even examine that woman? How do you come to the diagnosis so quickly?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t have to. You noticed I dropped my stethoscope on the floor in there? When I bent over to pick it up, I noticed a half dozen banana peels in the trash. That was what probably was making her sick.\u201d<\/p>\n
The younger doctor said, \u201cPretty clever. If you don\u2019t mind, I think I\u2019ll try that at the next house.\u201d<\/p>\n
Arriving at the next house, they spent several minutes talking with a younger woman. She said that she just didn\u2019t have the energy she once did and said, \u201cI\u2019m feeling terribly run down lately.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve probably been doing too much for the church,\u201d the younger doctor told her. \u201cPerhaps you should cut back a bit and see if that helps.\u201d<\/p>\n
As they left , the elder doctor said, \u201cI know that woman well. Your diagnosis is most certainly correct, she\u2019s very active in the church, but how did you arrive at it?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI did what you did at the last house. I dropped my stethoscope and, when I bent down to retrieve it, I noticed the pastor under the bed.<\/p>\n

\nUpon returning home from the pediatrician`s office with his four kids, he turned his attention to his ailing wife.<\/p>\n
After preparing some chicken soup for her, he picked up the phone to call her doctor.<\/p>\n
The receptionist picked up and he related the situation to her. She then told him that the office was going to be closed for a couple of days, but that his wife could have an appointment in 3 days.<\/p>\n
Oliver went ballistic and yelled into the phone, \u201cThree days?! The doctor can`t see her for three days?! She could be dead by then!\u201d<\/p>\n
Calmly the voice at the other end of the line replied, \u201cIf so, would you please call to cancel the appointment?\u201d<\/p>\n
